Elden Ring has been previously subjected to a barrage of rumors and speculations of a future expansion. This began when a dataminer, Lance McDonald, uploaded a video in which he showed an otherwise inaccessible area of the game that he was able to reach by making use of a mod that allowed him to roam outside of the game’s boundaries.

The rumors and speculations have been put to rest as Elden Ring made the announcement that a free Colosseum Update would be made available on December 7th. In this new expansion, the Colosseums of Limgrave, Leyndell, and Caelid will open their gates, allowing players to engage in battles such as duels, free-for-alls, and team fights. Take a look at the ELDEN RING | Free Colosseum Update trailer, courtesy of Bandai Namco’s official Youtube channel:

The expansion will take place in the several colosseums that have been scattered over the landscape of Elden Ring since the game was first released. Colosseums are a unique kind of Location found in Elden Ring. They are massive arenas that have been erected all throughout the Lands Between, but players cannot enter them at this time. The Ritual Sword Talisman describes the Colosseums as having been used in the past as venues for ceremonial combat to take place. In the past, battles were fought in honor of the Erdtree, but nowadays, such ceremonies aren’t carried out.

Here are the locations of the 3 Colosseums in Elden Ring:

  • Limgrave: Large structure found in the north. Follow the path north of Warmaster’s Shack.
  • Leyndell, Royal Capital: The Colosseum in Leyndell can be seen immediately when you enter the city from East Capital Rampart
  • Caelid: The most northern part of main Caelid. Can be reached by using the Deep Siofra Well.

Prominent souls modder, Sekiro Dubi, was able to access one of these colosseums previously, showing a Site of Grace, the in-game respawn spots, further indicating that the region was or would be explorable by players. New hair has also been discovered in the files, however, it is unknown if this will be a cosmetic choice for players or whether it will be used by NPCs in the expansion. While this leaked information of the new DLC look to be accurate, Elden Ring will confirm them when the expansion is released.
